Greetings to all…

This is a “custom made little glitter house“…the business owner is an accomplished artist and longtime e-friend of mine…he and I made an “exchange of skills barter agreement“…he did a very generous personal favor for me…and i made this for him...

It measures 5” tall x 4” wide x 3” deep…sits on a “city sidewalk base” that extends ½” on the sides and back and 1 ½” in front…it’s illuminated with LED lights and powered by a coin size 3-volt battery…I did take liberties on the side window placement and leave off details on the sides that I could not see in the Google maps street view image I worked from…

My very best regards…

Howard…

Wow!! What a delightful gift for someone. Great details. And I love the pictures inside the windows. That is so cool.

But finally, the city sidewalk base! Really? How did you do that? It looks like a real sidewalk.

Thank you so much for sharing this treasure just like John said.

Lucy...
the "city sidewalk" is a double layer of very thick cardboard* about 1/4" thick, painted with gray craft paint and then the joint lines were drawn with a black gel ballpoint pen...

*the very thick cardboard is what you find under the vinyl layers of fronts and backs of three-ring binders...sometimes the inside cardboard layer is solid and sometimes it is a lamination of two layers of cardboard with a layer of thin corrugated sandwiched in the middle...it's an easy task to fill the ends of the flutes with spackling compound or a mix of white craft paint and baby powder to make a thick paste, let dry and then sand smooth...

Love this artist studio. Just perfect as always... Now tell me... How do you cut those notebook covers?

Hello...nice to hear from you...
I cut the double thick cardboard with a steel straight edge guide and a mat knife...it tales multiple passes with a sharp blade...don’t try to cut it with one or two passes...it might take a dozen or more passes to get thru the layers...but eventually it will give up and become a nice base...try not to move the steel edge guide between passes...
Hope this helps....
