Thanks, Steve (gee, I don't have to call you "Vermont" any more!).
Have you seen the plastic lids for canning jars--they aren't meant for "canning," but for storage, and I think would work great for what you're doing (and I'm planning to do). Amazon sells then for something like $3.79 (+$1.79 shipping) for a package of 8 lids. Here's the link. And at least you don't have to glue the lids to the rings, or worry about eventual rust. I've used them before on canned jellies and chutneys and stuff, and like them.

Vermonts a big canning state .all the hardware stores have a big canning section.

Is there a particular circle cutter you've had good experience with? The reviews on-line seem all over the place. And my hand cutting is pretty awful.
