Brian, I just converted your photos to 24-bit RGB format so old browsers could display them. EVERY TIME I look at them, my jaw drops. Especially the one with several sheets laid out to dry. Fantastic work. If you're going to let Pete have some of these to sell, please send me the templates for JUST the ones you're doing as: Fuzzies' Silver on blue Gold on Blue Silver on Red So I can get them into his "catalogue" Thanks for sharing. Paul |

Thanks so much, Paul! I'm having so much fun with this project!! I'll let you know as things progress with Pete. I think he wants to see them, before he offers them up for sale, which I completely understand, and is totally cool. I'm waiting to send out anything until I have a few more of them completed. I'll make sure you get everything you need. I will have the 2 new Red and Gold windows that Ted/Kathi never made in addition to the list you requested. Should make for neat little pack of rarities!! |

Great work Brian, Paul, Tom and anyone else who has taken part in this window reproduction extravaganza. I know I have a few houses that will benefit from this project. Thank you all........ |

I am so energized by seeing the careful, precise, collaborative, and professional work everyone is doing together to make this all happen. And for us hobbyists, who I imagine aren't the biggest spenders in the world. What a fantastic job you're doing. I bow to you all. |

FUZZY WINDOWS TEST #2 Happy Monday everybody! I did my second round of tests flockings for the fuzzy window project I've been working on. I have been working with Tom Hull to get the exact measurements of the known types of fuzzy windows. After several emails Tom and I think we have gotten them as close if not dead-on to the originals. So I made a new screen similar to the one pictured in the first round of prints. Now I'm focusing on getting the proper consistency of flocking material to achieve the look of the originals. Pete Oehmen was kind enough to send me a by-product of his awesome coconut covering to use in my testing phase. He also sent me another commercial flocking that I will be trying in my next round of tests. Pete will be offering these windows for sale along his current catalog of replacement parts if I can get them perfected. The first picture I've posted is an actual up close example of a fuzzy window, for those of you who do not own a fuzzy window house. The second pic is a photo of the print and flocking I did with Pete's coconut by product. It coated and stuck very nicely to the medium, but I believe it will need to be ground up finer if this is the selected flocking. Pete is able to dye this covering to match any color we need. The third pic is a photo of a Rayon flocking I ordered off of the internet. I was able to get the color right on, by mixing several of the different colors I ordered together and some pigment. However the ink I used in this test to secure the flocking is too translucent and will need to be darken to produce the proper effect. The fibers are a little more shaggy than the original, but so far this is the closest flocking I have used to the originals. So the next round of tests will have a darker backing ink. Thanks! -Brian

Well, I think I got it about as close as I'm gonna get. But I'm open to any suggestions anybody has! I used a darker more opaque base ink similar to enamel that I think adheres to the mylar better. I also changed up the flocking formula a bit and combined to different types of flocking to achieve the look/color. The first pic is my before house with the bad window. I used this church to match the color of the fuzzies and texture of the flocking. The second pic is a side by side with one of my new repro fuzzies installed. The mylar is a littler brighter red than the original cello, but Im pretty sure that is due to years of fading on the original. The third pic are two full sheets that I did as my last test. My next prints will be silver windows on red and blue. Thanks! -Brian

Absolutely STUNNING. I think you have got it Brian. Wonderful job. You have made a difficult job easy for we who restore and or make Putz houses. Thank you so much. Tom |

THANK YOU SO MUCH for all your help Tom!! I couldn't have got this all figured out without you. This has been a super fun project for me... almost as much fun as repairing or building a house |
