Good afternoon!

I just completed construction on my newest project. It is the biggest and hardest house to make I have done so far. I thought it was going to be easier since it was essentially a square box. But there are so many little details, it took a lot longer to work them all out. A big part was the recessed door!

My plans are to do the green and orange color scheme, I like the yellow and orange of the original as scene in the pick below but since green happens to be my favorite color, Im going to run with it.

I found 4 different pics of original houses to make my pattern from. They all had so many variations that I just picked the features I liked best on each of them. The one I used the most which is not pictured is out of Pete's collector guide, the Giant Coconut Chapter. One is a screen capture from the Golden Glow video Maria posted, another was a 2009 HOM, and the other was in the Putz displays on Papa Ted's site as well. Two of them had different doors. The yellow one had a little car, which I did not make a pattern for, i just started hacking away at the cardboard. I'm pretty happy with how the little guy came out. I noticed that there were two different Santa figures used on this house too.

Can't wait to start painting. I'm hoping to primer it tonight!

OMG it's wonderful but what REALLY impresses me is the car!

Yeap I like the car too.

The amount of detail on the house is massive.

Care to share the car pattern.

Thank you so much! :D I'll see what I can do for a pattern on the car. I didn't make it in my computer like I normally do. I hand drew one side onto cardboard, and then eyeballed all the other pieces except the wheels. But I'm pretty sure it won't be hard to make a pattern now that I have one done.
Heres some tips on making it:
The wheels I wanted to be perfectly round, so I actually used a three hole punch and used the pop outs.
To achieve the curve in the back of the car and the hood, I cut out the piece and then pressed around the edge of the handles on my scissors to mold it to shape.
I don't know if the original had a bottom but I left it open so I could slide up some clear acetate to make windows, as I read on PAPA Teds site that the original had windows.

I don't have a super awesome update today, but I did get some primer on the house yesterday.
It is seven pieces all together.

Hope you're all enjoying the day!

Lee, Paul, thank you so much!

I got a bit done on the house, but I started a little Santa sculpt late last night, and cooked it this morning. I used a generic version of Sculpey, it's a Polymer Clay by Craft Smart.
I bought white, I have done a little sculpting before, but nothing on this miniture scale before. If you look at the pic behind my first post you can see the Santa Im trying to emulate, it is on Barb's 2009 HOM.
The clay started to burn a bit in the toaster oven, but it was nice and solid after it cooled. It needed a little clean up and then I sparyed it with primer to restore its nice white beauty and have the paint stick a little better. I think it ended up being a tiny bit bigger than the original, but fairly close. The pics were a pretty pixelated when I blew them up, so I did have to do a little guess work.
I got a coat of red and pink on it, but I think the red will need another coat. Then Im going to paint his toy bag, and finish with black details.

Hope everybody is enjoying their weekend so far!!
