Good evening!

Got another one glued together! Almost scraped this one, but I like this house so much, I managed to pull it back from a trainwreck in progress. It's the first house that I had a major design flaw in when I went to glue my pattern together. I'm going to chalk it up to this cold I've been fighting the last week. :D
I had got a few of the angles wrong and when I went to put on the roof it didn't fit too well. I managed to save the back of the house from my original design, but had to chop the whole front off and start fresh.

I have loved this house for sometime, not just because it is a full coco ;) , but because it has a twin. Don't know if I've shared this with the forum before, but I have a twin brother. He also has a small vintage village of Japan houses.

Ted called this one March Majesty, and it can be seen at the link below....

I'm working on the green version, but it has a mirror image done up in red.

The Santa in the photo, was made by Tom Hull from a casting of an original in his collection. I'm going to attempt to make a mold of the casting he sent me so I have a Santa for the twin when I get around to doing it.

brian...

first class job as usual!...

what?...you had to "chop and save"?...i can't believe it...i thought i was the only one who had done that!...and more than once, too...some of those roof lines can be tricky...any you really can't tell from the photo until assembly...

looking forward to the seeing the finished house and it's "twin"...speaking of twins...we have twin girls...or should i say twin grown daughters...both over 40...boy, makes me feel old just to think about it...

my very best regards...howard...

Ya'll are too kind!! Thank you VERY much!

I hope to do the twin house soon, I'm going to be attempting a loggie next. I've got so many new projects planned, with all these cool houses popping up on ebay lately. I've been saving pics for inspiration.

Howard, hope your girls weren't the handful of trouble my brother and I were! ;) I'm truly thankful for being a twin, we are still best friends.

I was worried about this house but I now have a bunch of coco applied and it covered many blemishes. Gonna have to start measuring twice now before I cut. :) I used the pics off Papa Ted's site for my pattern and I was only able to see one side. Then I noticed on there that he said one of them was Antoinette's so I checked out her mantels and was able to see the other side. Mine is pretty close, but I think I'll make a few slight adjustments if I make another one of the green ones. The red one has slightly different roof peaks so I'll be adjusting for that too.

My next step is to make the paper mullions, I was going to order some of Pete's, but I dropped the ball on that, so Im going to hand cut them out on this one.

Thanks again!!

brian...

i really like your "taller" and "slimmer" version...it's not as low a profile as the original...

those of us who run trains around our villages will recognize that this house is a perfect piece to hide a train as it passes behind it...

taller houses are great "skyline pieces"...

when used in groups, with some tall trees, skyline pieces become a screen that acts like a tunnel...

now you see the train...now you don't...then it appears again...

by the way...colors are perfect...so is the santa figurine...

my very best regards...howard...

Thank You so much!

Howard, that was purely accidental, as you know I had problems early on with this one, but I'm happy with the way it turned out. One of these days I want to do a train in my village...only problem with it right now is that I would have to leave out several houses...
Out of all the houses I've built so far, it says "Chirstmas" like no other, and Im sure its mainly the color scheme, but also the cottage feel.

I was once again lucky to log on today, my computer is making a terrible noise, hoping to get a new one in the next few days..also hoping it holds out a bit longer until I have time to get one.......
If not.. once again, hoping everybody has a Happy Thanksgiving!
