Hi all, I started collecting affordable houses about a year ago and this is my most expensive house at $12.00. It was one of PapaTed's and was in fairly rough condition. It was extremely dirty (maybe it was one of those that he left out for 15 years) and the base was smashed, torn and broken. The blue coconut is original and I scraped extra off of the back to fill in bare spots. After cleaning, scraping off and painting the roof, I added some of Pete's coconut. I had to rebuild the base but was able to reuse the fence. I mixed some acrylic paint to match the original color, painted the base, added sand and repainted. Then I soaked and repainted the tree and Snow tex was added last. I glued the original base bottom on to the new base because I wanted to preserve the Made in Japan stamp and PapaTed's initials. It felt a little awkward to scrape off original flocking and remove the old base, but the house does look happy to me now. Attachment:

Not sure how to add more than 3 pictures to original post so here is the original base bottom that I added to the new base. Attachment:

Here is my next round of restorations. I bought the two little common houses to practice on, but they turned out so cute I'm adding them to my village this year. The first house needed painting, a new section of roof and of fence, new cello windows and a nice coat of Pete's coconut to bring him back to life. The little star house need painting, cello windows, a tree refurbishing and a coating of glass Diamond Dust. I found the original door inside when I took the house off the base. I really like these little wonders. - Laurie Attachment: _DSC2910.JPG [ 74.75 KiB | Viewed 15784 times ] Attachment: _DSC2906.JPG [ 71.14 KiB | Viewed 15784 times ] Attachment: _DSC3488.JPG [ 108.07 KiB | Viewed 15784 times ] |
