The first photo shows the house built up in it's Froot Loops Box naked self. I have been wanting to make this house for awhile and I had very few dimensions to work with so it was mainly drawn from a printed copy of an on line photo. The last photo in this series is of the antique original. Next is part of the house painted and the next of the house finished.

I really like the red "tile" roof replicated by the use of corrugated cardboard and the general cottage/bungalow look of this one. It had some nice details one doesn't see often such as shutters. It is a lighted house as you can see here.

One of the details that I really like about this house is the decorated "Blooming" hedge. Also with yellow mullioned windows which I had to hand cut to get the right size for this house. I have NO idea how big or small the original was. All I had was 5 1/2" long and 3 1/2" wide set of dimensions to go by and had to make it a bit bigger. However the flat cardboard bottom on it WAS NOT a cut down base as the original had made in Japan stamped on the bottom over white paper. The last photo is of the original.

tom...

congratulations!...nearly an exact "brush stroke to brush stroke" copy...as close to the original as anyone could want...

i'm sure that's what you wanted, too!....i had to look several times to make sure my 70+ year old eyes weren't playing tricks on me!...

don't you just love all that free cardboard?...i have a big stack of it, too...the same goes for corrugated cardboard boxes...i just can't pass up when i'm in the grocery store...

my very best regards...howard...

Thanks for all the neat comments. I was so enamored of this house that when I didn't get it on ebay I decided to make it. It was sort of sloppily put together and painted but I wanted to capture that look. Turned our nice. Not too hard to do as the original photos allowed duplication.

Great job Tom! I wondered where you got the picture from because I don't recall seeing anything like this on Ted's site (although I see something new every time I look!). Love the shutters and the little painted hedge, features that I haven't seen on any other house. That's two houses I've seen this week on this site that I had no idea existed! This site is such a great resource, and such a fun hobby!

Thanks, Tom!
