I'm working on another Halloween House which comes as no surprise to you, I'm sure. Still using the same pattern as my last 4 houses or so. This one I modified with a facade in the front with 3 gables - one to suggest the body of a bat and two for the wings. I thought I would post a few steps along the way.

Testing out things on the house - bat wing design, how the door opens, how the house fits on the base, etc. My concept drawing called for red windows and red under the wings, but that color was too extreme for me. I went with my more normal color scheme for the houses - blues, and greys and black.

I hope you are doing well today.

I've got the bats wings on the house now. They were a little fiddly, but looking pretty good. Mostly I have to do some touching up on the edges, then figure out how I want to do the background - probably a moon of some sort with some bats hanging down.

It's starting to be summer here in South Carolina without the oppressive heat. I need to be outside working in the garden rather than cutting cardboard and being covered in glue.

Working on the finishing touches for this house. The house has been glued to the base. I am going to put a moon behind the house with some bats in silhouette on the moon and maybe a dark cloud across the front. I was trying to make a big moon behind the house, kind of like the background on this Czech house which was house of the month - July 2000 https://cardboardchristmas.com/papateds/Hom2000.html but they looked goofy. I'll use my oversized moons for a project for kid's around Halloween.

I finally have settled on a smaller moon to be glued on the backside of the roof shown in the photos below. I copied a photo of the markings on the moon because I am going to lightly paint darker ares on the moon similar to the photo.

I hope everyone is doing well.

Finished the house last night. Not sure about the moon as an element behind the house. Also the background I painted is too blue for this house. The colors of the house are accurate though.

The new improved (well, maybe improved) Bat Wing House - I call this one "The Count's Keep". I actually like the blue windows better on the first one, but purple represents Halloween a little better. I am happy about this base as well. I painted black striations on the base to look like stratified layers of rock. The wall is stenciled with stones similar to the ones I used on some other houses. I put a black bead on the top of the stone posts. I rounded the wings of the roofline. I don't think it matters much for the design though.

The embossed spiderweb design was painted with white paint and shows up better. See what you think. I always appreciate your feedback and comments.

Lucy I really like this house. I think the purple shows up fine in these photos and I love what you did to the base/fence for this one! You make such creative projects.
