I meant to be done by now, but I promised a few more people some houses. You know I am selling them all for a fundraiser, I think there are only 2 more to be sold - the early versions of the Candy Corn houses. It has been very gratifying, people are really excited about their houses and have even posted them on Facebook. This house is called the "Rusted Tin Roof" House. When I cut out Jack's house I cut out another one at the same time. Since I don't like to make the same house twice, I decided to try to make a rusted tin roof. It was surprisingly easy. I used alcohol inks over metallic duct tape (real duct tape, not duck tape) and then distressed it. I'm pretty happy with the result and will probably use this technique again, even on Christmas houses. I think it will go especially well on a loggie. Lucy

Nicely done Lucy. I love that rusted tin roof; what a good idea. I wonder if foil would work too. Glad to hear most of your houses sold. |

Laurie, The metallic duct tape is a foil tape. It's very easy to adhere to cardboard. I'm including a photo of the tape so you can see how easy it would be to make a roof with it. I got that tape for sealing some ducts from one of the big box stores - Home Depot or Lowes. It is readily available.

I'd love to see a tutorial. I work with that kinda of tape at work. The paint/stain part of it, interests me very much. Thanks for sharing, Steve |

Another great project. Didja draw the boards yourself? I have some funky patterns here that you might find useful: http://www.bigindoortrains.com/indoor_r ... _stone.htm |

Yes, I drew all the boards. I really like your faded barn wood. I had seen the stone before, but I did not know about the wood versions. I may try them on one of my last houses. Thank you for reminding me of that. My left hand thanks you as well (the drawing hand). Lucy |

Fantastic miss Lucy. I'm usually a Christmas purest but I'm also partial to Halloween. This is a great piece. |
