This isn't a train question per se--I ran into this ad for a Brit building product, 1955--has anyone ever seen any of these structures--built with this product--in a train layout. I'm curious how they actually looked and haven't seen much on the web.

Maria:

did a quick google search.

Found these right off.

Pretty big wiki entry:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bayko

And then a company that supplies replacement parts.

http://www.baykoshop.com/

Looks like a lot are sold on ebay too,

Steve

Thank you! You know it never occurred to me to go to wiki!

Sounds like a cooking (baking) toy.

I wonder why they thought naming the product after its key component (Bakelite) would be a good idea. Now if they'd called it "legos" or even "lok-a-blok" :-)

I'll keep my eye out at the big flea market (Clark County Fairgrounds Extravaganza) this fall.

I'm 56 years old and I know I would enjoy playing with a set like that! I loved Legos as a kid. Back then Legos didn't have all the different pieces like they do now.

Missed it but a friend said a set of these blocks was on EBAY last summer and sold for a pretty penny.
