Didn't know where to post this entry but... This lovely old barn, The Brittain Barn, built on sandy soil and with a stone foundation, could not be saved. Connie H. sent me a copy of the photo--I thought it might provide some putzing inspiration for someone out there since the lines lend themselves to it--in my opinion.

This lovely old barn was just 3 miles south of me and was indeed quite a relic. It eventually collapsed. The weakest area of the structure was where the EL joined together. This is where the roof began to collapse. In addition that 5 foot high wall around the bottom of the barn though innovative also began to roll. To little maintenance over too many years. |
