Debbie,

I have tried gluing the sisal to the wire, but I am messy and clumsy and I stick my hand in it or smear it all over and then my tree has big clumps of glue in places where it's not supposed to be. I do think it would make a somewhat stronger tree. The glue does not take the dye. On Martha Stewarts tutorial making these trees she does not wait for the glue to dry.

I am continuing to learn that you have to make mistakes to get better at something. I made about 8-10 houses before I started feeling good about the houses and I've made a bunch of trees that are rejects. So I would recommend making some and either smothering them with glitter or beads or putting them in the compost pile if they are too crooked or the gaps between the fibers are too large.
