So pleased to be joining this community of creatives. I've lurked for years, reading and (hopefully) learning about cardboard Christmas structures, both old & new. I have fond memories of those little houses from my childhood. I remember my Dad making some for us out of cereal boxes and cigar boxes. I began making some of my own creations last year, using some I've collected from garage sales and flea markets as inspiration. The forums have been invaluable sources of info.
I live in central Pennsylvania, but spent the first 60 years of my life in Pittsburgh. (Go Steelers, Pirates & Penguins!) I'm married, with a son and two stepchildren. I have a Cricut and use it, along with my trusty Xacto knife, for cutting. My structures so far are pretty simple and traditional, but I'd like to try some of those MCMs I've seen. I also enjoy gardening, reading, walks, travel, making greeting cards, home decorating, cooking and music. I worked as an instructor for a community college, an activities director for an adult day care program, an administrative assistant for a Montessori school and a medical nonprofit and at a greenhouse...among other things. Now, I'm enjoying retirement.
Hope to get to know folks as I get to participate beyond the lurker phase!
