I never post links to current auctions, but this is a buy-it-now so no one can complain that I gave away what they thought was a secret find.

The seller estimates vintage 1910s but I sort of doubt that. Still it is an interesting interpretation that may provide inspiration for the creative ones here. I especially like the slag glass windows (apparently real glass). Oh, by the way, it is HUGE for a putz house.

I'll upload an image for when the eBay ad disappears. ERZGERIRGE is a mountain chain, so it's like saying "Appalachian art," not a brand name.

It looks VERY home-made. Which is fine, as long as you know you're buying "Folk art."

I don't know what to make of it. Not sure I can get past all the "stuff" on it...But the shape is very interesting....thanks DCrowe

Many German putz things seem to carry the Moniker Erzgerirge to lend it a sort of lustrous cachet. Personally I always sort of thought they were stretching it just a bit. This in particular is clearly a home made item no mater where it may or may not have been made and since it is unique it has whatever value you place on it. With me it would not be that high but others would value it greatly. Especally the SELLER !

I like the different textures from the different sized gravel a lot!!! Kind of reminds me of a Hobbit house....would look good in the Shire. :)

Looks like aquarium left overs to me. Clever but I'm sure it's not as old as the seller claims?

Pete I thought the same thing about the gravel. Maybe most of the original gravel came off and they refreshed it with aquarium gravel? Not a collectible IMHO.
