Post subject:  My first vintage putz purchase

Well I am "up north" visiting with family and we stopped by an antique store and I found several putz.
I was very excited because this is my first purchase of an vintage house.
The larger house measures 4 1/2 by 3 1/2 by 1 1/4 and the base is 6 by 3 1/2 by 3/4 inch.
I am going to need some guidance as to how to clean and/or restore my little house. Can someone
point me to a link? The door and the windows are all damaged. I think I can replace the two rectangle windows... but how do I get a replacement door on this house? There is no opening between the house and the porch. Do I struggle placing it over the fence and in from the side? What about the fence? It
leans and I see cracks along the front edge.
The back hole has been seriously enlarged. If this was your house,, would you consider fixing the back?
I am pleased to see that the Santa was still in place.

Great little house Debbie! Here's one I bought a while ago that has a santa & sleigh in the front yard. It just needs a tree "refurb", new windows, fence post on left side, and some general cleaning. I have quite a few of the beloved "Hacienda"-style houses. Nice find. There's lots of great tutorials here on the subject of putz house restoration. Have fun!... :)

Will, I love the sleigh. That's pretty rare.

Yes Paul, they are! When I purchased any houses as a once "heavy collector", they had to be ones I've never seen before. I only have 1 of these lil' treasures in my collection. :)

Hi Debbie, very nice find!
When I need to get inside a spot that isn't easy to access, I carefully pull one side of the roof off and go inside that way. The roof is usually easy to glue back, some care needed to be sure to reglue into the exact spot. Some folks take the house off the base, but when that happens, it is a lot easier to see that the house was reglued. The roof reglue is hidden by the roof!
