Making Blueprints for Sept 2005 HOM 'Red Coconut Barn'
Re: Making Blueprints for Sept 2005 HOM 'Red Coconut Barn'
Hello All - finished this one up today (finally!). The textures and colors were a bit tricky but overall pretty happy with the final result. Thanks to Tom H for the plaster door (and to the wife for painting it!)

Had to take another look--must feature on my blog!

Wonderful! It was a great learning experience to watch you draft it and bring to fruition.

Excellent job!
Could you tell me about the base, it looks painted blue with silvery color coconut. I like it because the paint still shows through, something I struggle with .
Thank you!

Thanks All!
Lynn, I too struggle trying to get the base 'just right'. I usually experiment on cardboard pieces until I get something that I like.
For this one, there is light blue paint base. I let it dry and then put a light coat of Modge Podge and sprinkled the blue coco first and then silver. Also, I sprinkled some dark blue sand on it. I never tried that before!
I attached a close-up, hopefully you can see and then a combination of blue and silver coco and then the dark blue sand.
Hope all is well!

Hi John, thanks for the great info and the close up pictures. I never would thought to use sand and I have lots of it.
This is a true inspection!!!
