They were hostess snack trays--or "snack sets"---very popular in the 50's and 60's---meant to hold a morsel and a drink---these are lacquered light wood and made in Japan, 1950's-early 60's.

always look forward to your "seasonal displays"...lots of colors, textures and finishes...going to see what a "sepia tone" image with some "softening" in Picasa photo processing will do to this autumn setting...

good to see that the little stone cottage is still around!...i found the link to the project...it does being back memories!...
