Update...9-21-2021...House number 7 in the 2021 series...

The two pattern sheets for the "Storybook House" are in the PDFs below...

You will note on the patterns that some are marked "GRAIN DIRECTION" and shown with an arrow...for the best explanation search "paper grain direction" for details...but the bottom line is that the curled edges of the roofs will take and hold the curl when pre-bent with the grain in the proper direction...I also over-rolled the edges on a 3/8" diameter dowel because there will be some spring back...

One more thing...I had to make several parts more than I want to admit to get the proper fit...so don't be discouraged...

Stay tuned for pictures of the completed house...probably next week...

Howard...

Update…10-6-2021...House No. 8 in the 2021 Series…

The “FOLLY CANDY BOX”…

Guess I’ve been streaming too much British TV…it seems like the big country homes and estates had a ”Folly”…and this little fellow fits the description perfectly…

“FOLLY“…a building constructed primarily for decoration…but suggested through its appearance, some other purpose…or a building with extravagant architecture…

I found the vintage original here…

https://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/large-vintage-putz-house-with-columns-tree

My version is smaller…and instead of a candy box, mine will be used as a village display house…I added side windows…light hole…paper door…thicker base…and wood finials in place of round balls on top of the columns…

For an authentic candy box…use a stick-on door…no windows or light hole…make a thinner base…for candy box history go here and scroll down the page about halfway…

https://cardboardchristmas.com/papateds/earlyperiod.html

I can also see this as a Halloween piece…change the color scheme…pumpkins on the column tops…a witch, ghost, goblin or black cat figurine…a dead or withered tree…

Look for patterns in a few days …and pictures of the completed project after that…stay tuned…

Howard…

The “FOLLY CANDY BOX”…

The patterns are in the two PDfs below...

Note...painting around the single face trim has been tedious...probably would have been easier to make the columns, prime, paint and glitter them...then glue to the body...

Pictures of the finished version in a week or so...stay tuned...

Howard...
