2024 PROJECT NO. 3…EASTER EGG HOUSE…

Here's a place to post patterns you want to share, link to patterns you find elsewhere on the internet, and request particular kinds of patterns you're looking for. I've moved a few existing messages here to get the forum started.

2024 PROJECT NO. 3…EASTER EGG HOUSE…

Post by Howard »

Greetings to all...

Here's a project that has been on my list for a long time…it's my version of the many egg houses you'll see on the internet...notice there isn’t an exact pattern for each part…that’s because the egg you use may not be identical to mine…so size adjustments may need to be made…

EGG BODY…a paper mache one from Hobby Lobby…but I’m certain there are other sources for similar items…

ROOF…cereal box cardboard cone…scalloped edge cut with scrapbooking scissors…textured covering is craft store straw run through a blender, sifted and applied like glitter…

CHIMNEY…candy apple stick…

DORMER…cereal box cardboard roof…dormer front is foam core with back edge contoured to fit egg…

BASE…4 1/4” x 5” x about 5/8” thick…see photos and how the center of the base layers are cut out to fit the bottom of the egg…the base also received a copy paper wrap…ground cover is green model railroad scenery flock applied with white glue…it’s just like applying glitter…

FENCE…3/4” high cardboard…pickets cut with pinking shears…

FLOWER STEMS…cocktail toothpicks wrapped with paper to resemble leaves and sprayed green…

FLOWERS…from the Hobby Lobby Paper Studio(R) collection…a dab of super glue holds each flower in place on the stem…

DOOR and DORMER WINDOW…scrapbooking paper with foil behind openings…

STEP…3/8” square tube of cardboard cutout on back edge to fit egg…piece of cardboard cut to fit for top of step…

RABBIT…a Tim Holtz item painted a very light gray to contrast with the white fence…tiny dabs of blue and pink finished the eyes and nose…

NOTE…I am not affiliated with any sellers or specific products mentioned…

Stay tuned for more photos of the parts of this project…

Howard…

That's really great, Howard. Your sense of inventiveness never ceases to amaze me. Has me thinking about dyeing Easter eggs with the kids.
