Making a "Lamplighter Flattie"...

What kind of figures have been used with cardboard Christmas houses and villages, where do you get appropriate figures today, how do you make, prepair, repair or otherwise maintain figures?

Making a "Lamplighter Flattie"...

Post by Howard »

greetings to all...

the inspiration of this "flattie" came from several sources...my version is a combination of elements from four of the images i found...it's not an exact copy of any existing piece...i may even "flip" the pattern...i'll post a pattern for the lamp later...

the steps for making the "lamplighter" are the same for all the other "flatties" i've posted under the "Figures for Putzes" index...

my very best regards...howard...

just about ready to spray on two thin coats of gray primer...then on to the fun part...painting, detailing and finishing...

i did add a few "layers" of detail to create shadows...the hat brim, scarf, right arm with glove and left glove...

the pole and the leg brace are made from a small paper clip...

still working on the lamp post...more later...

my very best regards...

howard...

…“He made the night a little brighter wherever he would go“…

Here are a couple of pictures of the finished “lamplighter flattie”…I did make the pole longer after I posted the original pattern…

Regarding the streetlamps…

Plan A…this streetlamp is also a “flattie“…the parts were detailed in a post under this topic a several days ago…I did add a piece of trim to the base that was not shown on the original picture…a yellow piece of paper was glued on to represent the light…gold or yellow foil would look brighter…

Plan B…this is the one I’m going with when we set up our village on the dining room buffet this year…Lemax battery powered LED streetlamps…I now have a string of eight…a thoughtful gift from one of my daughters…

My very best regards…Howard…

Howard another wonderful piece maybe my favorite so far. As I watch your Lamplighter come alive it reminded me of one of my favorite poems as a child by Robert Louis Stevenson The Lamplighter with Leerie going by..... :D
