"Hacienda-Style" Windmill putz house build...

Post by Clinton »

Hello all,

Since I could never find one anywhere to buy, I decided to build my own "Hacienda-Style" Windmill putz house. Not real original though-- (cutting & pasting of other styles I found online). One pic shows unlighted and the other is lighted. I still have to glass glitter it, so that will be another photo later on. Hope you all enjoy... :)

For those who don't know...

A tutorial for dying bottle brush trees—so just adjust accordingly to your color preference http://bit.ly/1DZUm7e

Thanks Brian. I am still not satisfied with the colors, placement of tree, and such. I am going to make the colors more vibrant and do something to that pitiful little bush. hehe.. More pics to come!

Thanks- and yes Lynn, I dye my own trees. I just use RIT. The antique white ones are just bleached out.

Will,
I am so happy to see your Hacienda-style windmill. What a cool idea. Looks like you are pretty good at cutting out doors and windows, they look very nice. I like the colors too. I look forward to seeing it with the glitter. Lucy

Well folks, here's the finished product. As I said previously-- the colors were too washed out and the palm (?) tree was outta whack, so I gave it a more noticeable splash of colors on the walls, rooftop, tree, and on the windmill too. Plus, I "replanted" that darn tree! hehe... And of course, the glass glitter was the finale'. Thanks to all of you for your kind comments, but- if you see something you think could need improvement, PLEASE don't hesitate to let me know. I love constructive criticism on my projects so I can be a better builder. Enjoy all.....

will...i'm with paul on this one..."looks great!"...i personally like "windmill haciendas"...but haven't made one yet...it really makes you wonder what the original makers were think about way back then...

questions...what did you use to get your stucco finish before adding the watercolor washes?...is the fine glass glitter on all surfaces or just random blushes to highlight selected areas?...

Will, the only thing I see that needs improvement is you need to post more house projects. VERY nice.
