My First Lackie

My latest build is a mid size Lackie. The first picture is the house that I reproduced. The picture is on our forum and was captured from an Ebay sale. I had the dimensions of 6 ¼ x3 ⅞ x 4 ⅝ so I made my house to those specs. It was a fun build but the painting requires time because there is no topping to hide any mishaps. The acrylic paint came out pretty glossy but shellac added a real sheen. They look like cartoon houses and remind me of my Fiesta Ware dishes with all their color. I can see how they would look great on a summer time train set up.

Great job.

Especially going by a photo from Ebay.

So how'd you do the texture on the roof.

Pre textured paper ???

The roof is actually made from a coffee cup sleeve. ( Now if I could only find one in a shingle pattern

. My photo distorted the colors a bit - I matched the paint colors to the ebay photo - but then who knows how accurate that one is.

Laurie...

You've captured all the charm of the original vintage lackie in your version...and yes...there's no glitter to "soften" any little visual imperfections...I know all about that...I've used extra glitter, mica and snow-tex to cover things many times...but don't tell anyone!...

Again, a job well done with your project!...I hope we well all see more of them!...
