greetings to all...
here is my little fellow...and i'll be making a few more i'm sure...his accordion is made from two 3/8" wide strips of red paper folded back and forth over each other...the black cardboard ends have small holes punched for the ends of his arms...probably need another coat of gold paint on his hat...

Will...about the faces...
i obtained an "excellent quality, second-generation face casting" and made my own push molds from dollar store modeling clay...this is not the only way to make molds and cast...but it's very low tech, inexpensive and it works for me...note...i have no plans to sell them or anything like that...i just wanted to make a few little elves...it's also the cheapest therapy i can afford!...
i'm casting with Dunham's water putty...go here...http://www.waterputty.com/creative.html
pretty simple procedure...mist molds with ordinary cooking spray...the spray is my "release agent"...put molds in freezer for about 30 minutes...cold clay and cooking spray don't like room temperature water putty...(that's a good thing)...after curing...(about 6 hours) remove castings and clean up edges with sand paper as needed...wash castings with rubbing alcohol to get rid any cooking spray residue...painting and a coat of two of clear...

Hi everyone, I've been bit by the elf bug.
These elves bring back wonderful memories of my Mon, a collector of elves. I am making up a bunch for gifts, so I went with the ensemble system for painting everything.
Thanks to a forum friend I have some faces to make my elves. First I painted the spun cotton bodies and feet, and than the faces finishing with 2 coats a high gloss finish.
