Cardboard Christmas

For those of you who had trouble tracking down Ted's photos of the originals, here's one.



That staircase is one of the most interesting features I've ever seen on these.

good afternoon to all...

thanks to a couple of forum members, the balcony house is finished...

i won't divulge their names...but will tell all of you that i promise to return the favors in one way or the other...

perhaps i'll be able to share some of my supplies with them...or with other members of the forum...

now...back to the project...

there is no tree...but the foil chimney adds the green...just in a different shape and texture...

i will probably crinkle the foil a bit first for a more aged look on the next project...

this is my first "green spot" house...i didn't exactly like green on white at first...but now i do...

the next time there will be some light green paint mixed in with my homemade coconut...

by the way...the green coconut was some that i dyed with lime kool-aid a while back...

there will also be more texture on the base of the next house that is a "green spot"...

the final overall height of the house is 4 inches including the base...

Looks delicious! Wonder how many kids tried to eat these way back when they were new? Of course they didn't look nearly as good then as your house, Howard, but the temptation had to be there. Kind of like running with scissors.

And the foil chimney is a nice touch as well. I pick up rolls of foil Christmas wrap when I find it cheap at thrift stores in anticipation of a future need. This helps me justify the ongoing search.

The coco looks great.
So whats the base coated with.
Some of your sawdust mix?

DCrowe...i just wonder what the one i made will look like in 70 years...the red will be faded for sure...

i'll bet the originals were much brighter when they were new than today...

PutzinVT...the base covering is white paint and white craft sand...but not enough of the sand texture shows through...

next time i'll add a coat of white sand before the final coat of paint is dry...and not cover it with white paint...

i'll told it will be much brighter...

This is a great house Howard, I love the colors and I love the snow on the roof!!!
