Putz Village Photos

Please use this forum for photos of your putz villages - some of you don't make your own houses, but you still display a lot of artistry when you combine and arrange them. And the rest of us would love to see your work. Again, it works best if you resize your photos to 800px wide or less before you upload them - Paul

End of summer---sort of--putz---the cabin, lit at night, is a large trashbashed FisherPrice or Playskool piece that had seen better days-I found the little 1982 casting of the wagon and cattle at a local flea market for a dollar!

In the "when life gives you lemons, you make lemonade" department....

Some years ago I made a very detailed landscape platform from moss, cardboard and styrofoam for my elaborate Fontanini Nativity, the pieces lovingly collected over the years (the carpenter's shed is a piece by Howard Lamey" and started off life as a small stable). In any case, the lights had been strategically placed (I invested in what was at the time, an expensive LED string--and permanently mounted in just the right places). It was a pain in the ass to store, it shed moss constantly, and took up a lot of closet space---but I loved it....and then....

Last year the lights died--AFTER it had been all assembled...quite a disappointment...but..life went on...and post-Christmas season, the platform went to the trash...

I meant to make another one, but the business of life and some health issues got in the way....not having a platform gave me an opportunity to try something new---like using an old table runner I love---and the battery operated "balloon" lights I got on sale from Victorian Trading...all and all I am pretty happy....you can see it all at https://www.flickr.com/photos/22283683@ ... 6035156038

It looks wonderful Maria. I can't wait to build my own nativity scene. I left my vintage one behind in a storage unit in Las Vegas earlier this year when I moved to the Philippines, but-- good news! They have some gorgeous ones here and they're cheap!

ANTOINETTE STOCKENBERG'S 2018 CHRISTMAS VILLAGE IS NOW ONLINE

And Antoinette says: Change has come to my mantel village of antique cardboard houses and tiny tin figures. At long last, the village has a working harbor. As a result, many new faces can be seen milling about. Travelers, tourists, seamen, tradesmen—the village is downright bustling! It's all possible because this summer I was able to devote long hours to painting many new tin figures to add to my original collection of antique Zinnfiguren. Miniaturization is an art, and I'm clearly not an artist who is up to it, but (despite a stiff neck and a newly acquired and possibly permanent squint) I had a lot of fun creating the new characters. I hope you enjoy the result. SEE THE 2018 MANTLE AT http://www.antoinettestockenberg.com/Putz2018.htm
