I’ve started the Santa, sleight and reindeer that is included in the Dolly village. The base is will be 13 ½ inches long. The sleigh is cut from 2mm gray chipboard, not yet glued until I have figure out where the tabs need to go. The rest of the pieces are 1 mm chipboard. Both the reindeer and Santa will be glued together to about the halfway point and then spread out to add a more 3 dimensional feel. I still have the antlers to cut out they will be a lot thinner chipboard. All the pieces will be painted white with the exception of the edges of Santa, I am thinking something to match the fur on the hat and beard.

Lynn...

Wow!...I'm impressed with your precision cutting!...it's an art and a skill at the same time...the project is a lot larger than I imagined, too...it would make a wonderful ceterepiece...even without any houses...can you imagine how it would look with a few carefully placed green spray painted pinecone trees?...very vintage to say the least...

I guess this project goes to the top of the "to do" list!...

Thanks Howard, you're right it would look nice as a centerpiece really to large to go with the houses and I am running out of room
I like tree idea too!

You know what would go perfect with this in my opinion. A honeycomb evergreen tree! This site has lots of them in assorted colors and sizes--and VERY GOOD PRICES! http://www.devra-party.com/christmas-pr ... ree-12-pcs

That is amazing, amazing labor too. The centerpiece is going to be incredible. It is the culmination of the Dolly series.

Lynn, it's looking really good. Very nice detail work. I know the amount of work that goes into this project. I am attempting to draw Santa's face but I may end up reproducing it instead. Did you photo shop yours from the picture onsite?

Hi Laurie, I did take a copy from an original Santa I found on line and touched it up and sized it to fix my sleigh. Here my graphic.

Thanks for the attachment Lynn. We were able to reproduce Santa from your attachment and now I'll adjust my sleigh to fit him. Much better idea than drawing him free hand. It is a hoot how big Santa and the sleigh are compared to the houses - I wonder where that idea came from.

The same thing is true today - look at the Dept 56 and Lemax figures which are WAY too tall to fit into the doorways of the structures they are supposed to go with. Or the 5"-tall railroad workers that were supposed to go with the old Tinplate trains. Figures and accessories are always out of scale. And in putz-world, they've never been close. :-)

I am making some progress. Santa is all done and the reindeer are set to be glued.
