They were hostess snack trays--or "snack sets"---very popular in the 50's and 60's---meant to hold a morsel and a drink---these are lacquered light wood and made in Japan, 1950's-early 60's.

always look forward to your "seasonal displays"...lots of colors, textures and finishes...going to see what a "sepia tone" image with some "softening" in Picasa photo processing will do to this autumn setting...
