Greetings to all!

My name is Iris and I am from the midwest (northern Indiana where we sit right in the middle of lake effect snow on a regular basis!)

I am sort of new to the Putz world but realize I have been attracted to the hobby before I knew it was a thing. I am a big-time crafter, I mostly create things for my family. Many years ago my husband gave me my first cutting machine - a Cricut bug (the original) and I have been hooked ever since. I do own a Cricut explore and maker, as well as a silhouette cameo and my husband, promised to teach me how to use a scroll saw this winter. I do a few things by hand but not the best using an Exacto knife - I have the cut marks to prove it. Creating houses, I found that I was constantly shrinking structures down in size. I stumbled upon Lucy's blog and the rest is history. I thank her for being so generous and creating patterns for us to try. I have made several of her structures and slowly trying my hand at creating my own designs but seem to struggle with roof lines and angles.

I work full time so my creative time is limited. I am an executive officer for a not-for-profit association but really I am a glorified secretary. I am a big Disney fan - I used to work for consumer products years ago and my youngest daughter was a character performer in Florida for 5 years. I have two daughters (29 & 27) and two granddaughters (2 and 8 months) so currently, in grandma mode :) We just celebrated our 30th anniversary in Hawaii and checked off a few bucket list items. I have a huge collection from Department 56 - North Pole Series which I set up every year. My Christmas decorations come out immediately after Halloween and are reluctantly taken down middle January lol.

I have made a few structures from these forums - the last one I just finished was from Howard. Here is my finished building - I believe he called it an embassy house.

Iris,

I am so happy you are here. This really is the best place to learn about Putz houses and how to make them. I'm kind of the second or third generation here after Paul, Howard, Maria, Tom Hull, Pete Oehman as the first generation. They are the real teachers.

Lucy
