As many of you know, my biggest "train and town" experience happens outside on a garden railroad.
Garden trains have exploded in price since two of the main producers got out of the business, but I don't think folks who can't afford those should have to give up on starting a railroad in their back yard.
To that end, I've created a series of articles on using battery-powered toy trains outside. Yes, I realize most of you do most of your stuff inside. But if you've ever wondered just how usable any of these $50-120 toy trains would be for you, you'll find reviews, tips, and tricks throughout the articles.

If this sounds boring, here's one of my favorite photos from this series, showing a battery-powered Lionel Hogwarts Express with two extra passenger cars running on my backyard railroad.
