Greetings to all…

It’s another month and time for a new project…it too was inspired by vintage one on an auction site…the original was an ornament…but I made a base for mine and will use it part of my holiday display…

The boat is a simple one-piece folder…before folding the bottom up and forming the bulge in the front, I lightly dampened the cardboard along the fold area…then glued, clamped and let dry….

A bamboo skewer glued to the back will keep the sail from cupping…and will also serve as a painting handle while applying the finish…I’ll cut the skewer off flush with the bottom of the base after final assembly…

The finish is birdcage gravel with final coats of metallic craft paint…silver for the boat and sea colors for the base…

Note…if you make as an ornament…I suggest you super glue the end of a paper clip as a hanger and not make a hole in the cardboard…

This Santa is a talented guy...able to tack while holding a Christmas tree would be no easy task!
