2025 Flattie Project (Mid-September)...Christmas Tree and Pickup Truck...

Greetings, everyone.

In late July, Maria, Cardboard Christmas Forum member, shared with me a vintage motorcar advertisement. She believed it could spark a new project idea—and she was right.

After some research online, I discovered a detailed side-view drawing of the motorcar. I chose to transform the rear section into a pickup truck bed to better fit the project’s vision.

Since I have previously documented the materials and techniques used to create flatties, I will let the work-in-progress photos illustrate the construction process for this one. Note that there are no hands on the two figures. That's OK. Parts of the arms will be glued behind the tree and not seen.

A note about the 5/8” diameter spoke wheels: the ones I used were laser cut and purchased a few years ago, but the supplier is no longer in business. However, alternative sources for suitable wheels can be found online. For those interested in a do-it-yourself approach, cardboard discs can be used as substitutes. See the photos demonstrating this method.

The pattern is available in the PDF below, and I will share a photograph of the completed flattie once it is finished.

Best regards,

Howard
