The Way it Was!

Please use this forum for photos of your putz villages - some of you don't make your own houses, but you still display a lot of artistry when you combine and arrange them. And the rest of us would love to see your work. Again, it works best if you resize your photos to 800px wide or less before you upload them - Paul

The Way it Was!

Post by Tom Hull »

Years ago before I was a collector of Japanese houses I did put up a putz. At that time I was completely unfamiliar with much more than the Coleman's we had as a child or the Dolly toy set I picked up at a flea market and so I made most of my houses. I had found a vintage Nativity set and added a few pieces. These were the Italian "mud" figures that are so beautifully hand painted. And it became the centerpiece of the display and around it were arranged houses I had built. Some from a Dover Victorian Village book and the balance I made from paper and card. "Those were the days my friend, We thought they'd never end.."

This is a photo of Tom's 1980s putz - he couldn't get it to upload so I'm uploading it for him.
