Making a "Father Christmas" flattie...

What kind of figures have been used with cardboard Christmas houses and villages, where do you get appropriate figures today, how do you make, prepair, repair or otherwise maintain figures?

Making a "Father Christmas" flattie...

Post by Howard »

Greetings to all...

Here are the patterns for “Father Christmas“ and some photos…this project is very much like the “Snowman” flattie I posted earlier…here’s the link…

http://www.cardboardchristmas.com/forum ... f=14&t=782

Making “Father Christmas” follows the same basic steps…cutout the body…add the optional “layering details” (see below)…mount on a base…prime…paint…add glitter to the base…finish with a couple of coats of high gloss clear spray…

The optional “layering details”…hat brim, face and beard…cuffs and coat trim…mittens and small gifts he’s clutching…give the flattie depth and create shadows…note…the flattie can be made without them…just paint in the details…

I also added three things that aren‘t shown in the photos…coat trim below the beard…a tiny piece of broom straw for the tip of the tree trunk…and for strength…a paper clip wire brace glued to the back…go to this link and scroll down…you’ll see a similar back brace…

More pictures later…

My very best regards…Howard…

Stunning. Thanks for including the quarter so we could get a sense of size.

hello...

the texture?...a very, very light sprinkling...(just a tiny pinch)...of clear (not green) real "glass glitter"...(the pieces are finer than sugar)...over a watered-down application of white glue...

i started using "glass glitter" on the bases of "flatties" as well...i like the look better than the regular craft store glitter and mica flakes i use on houses...

I really like the dimension you are with the cutouts on the robe and gifts and trees. It is wonderful. I may try something a little similar on some of my halloween houses.

As always, thank you for sharing.
