THE VILLAGE OF MARIA-ISHI 2019

Please use this forum for photos of your putz villages - some of you don't make your own houses, but you still display a lot of artistry when you combine and arrange them. And the rest of us would love to see your work. Again, it works best if you resize your photos to 800px wide or less before you upload them - Paul

THE VILLAGE OF MARIA-ISHI 2019

Post by maria »

The nativity set is put away and the village of Maria-Ishi 2019 is back with some changes; the dragon, hand-carved and made in Bali is now decked out with wire mesh balloon lights from Victorian trading--battery operated. The large fan is 1970's Sirroco "wood", vintage; the houses and ponds are cardboard putz buildings created by Howard Lamey. The little painted geishas and temple guard are also carved by him. The couple in front of the dragon is vintage made in Occupied Japan. The geishas being pulled in cars are vintage from the 50's, on the left. Other little accessories are vintage. The teacher and student on the left are vintage made in Japan. The round fans are from the dollar store. The gold and fabric fans are also from the dollar store. Close-ups later. The runner is a vintage piece dyed with coffee. The red cinnabar dragon boat on the right is vintage and Chinese.

I'm starting to think you may have a lot of Howard's creations.

Steve

Just got 1 1/2' of snow up here in Vermont. It's really winter now.
Now the houses on my street really looks like a putz house.

This ‘village’ is so interesting. What a clever way to make a putz display.

Thank you. I go through putz withdrawal after Christmas--I have various villages--and my very large Christmas tree and village, called Maria-ville, is still up--although everything else has been dismantled.

These little houses are addicting and this is my way of coping until the Easter village--I also have a winter loggie village that stays out all winter once the big tree is down....

And...I am finally starting to make my own houses---or at least experimenting and practicing more than I have ever done so before....

Life is great sometimes! In our putzing world!

Maria,

This is such a beautiful display. I love the Oriental houses - the detail is amazing. And I am so glad you are making your own houses. That is very exciting for us to see. You have found such great resources over the years. Thank you for that.
