Horse Drawn Cabriolet "Flattie"...

What kind of figures have been used with cardboard Christmas houses and villages, where do you get appropriate figures today, how do you make, prepair, repair or otherwise maintain figures?

Horse Drawn Cabriolet "Flattie"...

Post by Howard »

greetings to all...

every village, hamlet and city needs at least one cabriolet...and here's my version...the design was inspired by the images i found when i did an internet image search of "horse drawn cabriolet"...

i ordered the 1" diameter laser cut wheel last year for another project from here... http://www.karencary.com ...
NOTE...i now see that they are no longer doing custom work...i will advise all if i find another source for suitable wheels...

i'll post progress pictures as i build...stay tuned...

my very best regards...

howard...

ps...i also have another "flattie" pattern in the works...hope to post as soon as the cabriolet is finished...it's a farmer milking a cow...more about it later...

update...9-27-2019...

it's cut out, assembled and ready for primer...the wheel will be painted separately from the rest of the project and glued in place before the clear finish coats are applied...the axle of the wheel is a 1/2" long brad that is attached with epoxy cement...then a lot of detail painting needs to be done...and it's going to be colorful...i'll post a pix of the completed piece next week...

I'm with Lynn! Your flatties are fabulous, and really inspiring. I love all the detail you've put into this, and your color choices. I'll be trying this one for sure!

I love the detail on the canvas top as well as the buttons on the driver's sleeve.
