Here's a place to post patterns you want to share, link to patterns you find elsewhere on the internet, and request particular kinds of patterns you're looking for. I've moved a few existing messages here to get the forum started.

Red Roof Holiday Cottage - Elf house

Post by Lucy »

I was asked to make a pattern for an elf house. But I drew a blank in trying to figure out what an elf house looked like. So I went online and found lots of paintings by Alida Akers and her vintage-looking houses on the paintings looking kind of Elvish to me. So that's what I based this house on.

I drew up patterns and made the house in very Christmasy colors. What do you think?

The free pattern is on my blog (in the library) if you are interested in making it. https://paperglitterglue.com/red-roof-h ... per-house/

Lucy, This is absolutely an elf house and I love it! I have the German flatties of santa, elves, and snowmen band. I am definitely going to make this house for this village.
Thanks for providing a pattern :)

Every elf I have ever met would LOVE to live in a house like that! Beautiful interpretation of the idea and as always a great job on the house. Thanks for sharing pics.

lucy...

your "elf house" (or could be called a "storybook house") is one of your best ever...and i've looked at each and everyone!...the deer is just the right touch for the front yard...and you couldn't have chosen better colors...

i downloaded your pattern and watched the tutorial...and it's definitely on my list of your houses to make in 2020...

Your elf house is delightful Lucy. It’s bright and cheery and the setting for it is really nice.

greetings to all...

when i first saw the delightful house Lucy designed and built i knew i had to make one...i was planning to wait until after Christmas to start...but just couldn't...especially when she provided the patterns for the pieces...

this being said...here is my little glitter house version...some of my cosmetic details may vary slightly...but it basically follows her patterns...

thanks to a "secret santa"...i have a "new best friend"... ...Tim Holtz Distress Glitter - Clear Rock Candy...it's going to be my go-to glitter when i want to accent highlights like roof snow...the particles are so fine...you almost don't see them but they really reflect the light and glisten...(note...i have no financial connection to the Tim Holtz company or any other craft products)...

merry christmas to all...

Wow! Both are just perfect! I especially like the brick/stone on the front and the fence. Thx for sharing!

I like that glitter too. And I'm not sponsored by Tim Holtz, but I would like to be. I just love it when Howard makes a house from one of my patterns because I learn how to make it better. He made it narrower than mine which accentuates the roof line better, I believe. And painting the deer and then covering it with a clear material makes it look like a glass deer. I love that effect.

Howard, thank you so much for making this and sharing it with us.

Lucy and Howard,
These houses are as cute as can be! I loved the sloped roof, and the exposed stonework on the face of the walls. Also love the wall surrounding the house. I'll be making one of these as soon as the holiday craziness around here stops! Thanks again, Lucy, for the inspiration!

Merry Christmas to all!
