Village on my fireplace mantle

Please use this forum for photos of your putz villages - some of you don't make your own houses, but you still display a lot of artistry when you combine and arrange them. And the rest of us would love to see your work. Again, it works best if you resize your photos to 800px wide or less before you upload them - Paul

Village on my fireplace mantle

Post by Christmasvillagegirl »

This is a picture of a village I made over the years. Its a Greenleaf Village kit but I modified all of the houses. I love to change things! I live in PA and there are lots of stone houses in my area so I painted a few as stone buildings. The one covered bridge (also down the road from me) is a porcelain addition so I cannot take credit for it. This year I added more trees to give it a real feel. I think I need a bigger mantle!

I was thinking of removing the raffia and replacing it with straw from a broom for a more authentic look. Too much??

I kept it out of the box for a little touch up. I was not satisfied with the roof ridge. I need to add ridge top of some kind. Maybe I will make another one with the modifications I was considering. Some many house ideas, so little time!

I really like these! I have had this set for a number of years but it's on a shelf waiting its turn.
