Flying Hacienda Windmill house

Post by Colleen »

Hi everyone, thanks for all the tips I've gotten on this fabulous site. So happy to hear about the windows and doors being available again. I had bought some red cellophane and a gold paint pen to try and make my own.
This is a Flying Hacienda or windmill house I got recently. Notice how only 3 of the 4 blades are painted? Not the best construction. It's marked Made in Japan on the bottom in a circle. Would this be from the late 30's?
Best wishes to all, keep on Putzing....Colleen

Colleen, how tall is this? This is almost made like one of those tiny ornament houses.

Hi Paul, The base of the windmill house is 2 5/8" X 1 3/4" X 2 1/4" tall. I was contemplating painting the windmill blade but it's so hard to match colors. It does have a light hole in the back, very small 1/2", but no windows to shine thru? Only a crack in the roof seam, ha ha. I did have a smaller one but unfortunately had to sell it last year. Wish I hadn't.....Colleen
