Stumbled across an interesting article.
Seems a library in Newport News Va. Ran a putz building class around the holidays.
Quick interesting read.
The crafter gives a bit of insight to the inner secrets of "coconut"
Seems it's made of wheat husks. Interesting. I would of thought that that would be took dark to be a lite colored coating.

Very interesting article. I tend to think her assessment that coconut is made from wheat husks is incorrect. Japan did not have vast wheat fields and from my research, it does not seem as if they imported much wheat--though perhaps that changed later on; if anything it's some sort of native plant, perhaps even rice plant based--that's my theory.
