Two new additions to this year's village

Post by Laurie »

I built a simple stable for this years nativity using a flat cardboard base and roof which I held up with twigs and decorated with bark. I used a little mixture of green and tan coconut on the roof. I took the picture of the stable in the village scene so there's not a lot of detail and my camera had a difficult time trying to focus on one thing. (And wow, when you take a close up of those figures, their faces can be nasty. I may need to consider a paint job on them.)

And here is the new village Christmas tree lot. I used a flat cardboard base here also. The supports are balsa wood which I glued to the base. The tree lot is next to a house I'm restoring. It was black with accumulated dust which I scrubbed and then covered with new coconut from Pete. I needed to build a new section of fence and now need to match some brown coconut to finish it and the base. What a difference some brightening up will do for these old houses.

Laurie I love your stable what a great idea to use natural materials. The pieces are very nice, I like collecting miniture nativity sets and some I do repaint, lots of fun.
