Simple Skating Pond

Post by BurghGal »

I'm thinking my little Putz town could use a skating pond and I wondered what would be an easy one to do. When I was a kid, my Dad used a pocket mirror and that was the pond! Any ideas on making a small, simple skating surface would be appreciated.

I recently borrowed Howard's use of waxed paper crumpled up and then smoothed over and glued down to a mirror for a skating pond. I gave the edges of the pond some curves with built up snow flakes. Fun, easy and looks pretty good!

I use a small piece of thin stainless steel and just put loose 'snow' around the edges.

Sometimes I'll cut heavy duty aluminum foil into the shape I want, glue it to cardboard---dust with glitter...the edges I work up with hot glue and sprinkle glitter on the glue while it's still wet.
