Howard, I love the termination of the building top, just under the spire, in that photo. I will try to incorporate some ideas into the final design. Thanks

kathi...
while looking thru ted's site...i ran across the may 2006 "house of the month"...(which i had forgotten about)...it's an "urban building" as ted called it...i think the trim and detail treatment is very similar to the skyscrapers in the old photo...and lends even more proof to the accuracy of the design details you're working on...

Re: SEE THIS AMAZING JAPAN PUTZ HOUSE PHOTO NOW!
You are exactly right, Howard.
I have this "urban building" and several others. I really like the arched entry on this bldg and could imagine an entry like that with balcony above for the skyscraper. I am thinking that the eventual pattern for the flat-top skyscraper should provide for the building to be in sections, like this building, and like all the other "urban bldgs" we know - Flatiron, City Hall, High School "clock houses," even tho the skyscrapers in the photo didn't come in sections (why bother with such a huge box if the bldg could come apart?). THANKS for the great observations Howard!

greetings to all...
in addition to the skyscraper plan "kathi" is developing...i'm still doing an image search for inspiration...and ran across the one shown below...here's a link to the web site...http://www.euromodeltrains.com/cgi-bin/home.pl
i see some trim band details (between floors and at the top) that could easily be replicated with single face cardboard...and some interesting window cutouts...
i'm not suggesting this item be duplicated...i just like the overall look, colors and design details...like "maria" says..."it has putz-ability...and a lot of windows to cut out!"...

I never posted these properly on the resources page - sorry about that. But here are some paste-on bank windows that might work if you're not addicted to the idea of cutting out a few dozen holes.
